[Lorenzo Romans Collection]. 1894.

Collection consists of the photographs and papers of Lorenzo Romans a realtor who spent most of his life in Los Angeles and moved to Las Vegas late in life. A newspaper clipping in the collection describes how Romans originally came to Las Vegas in 1894 and stayed at the Las Vegas Rancho as a guest of Helen Stewart during a land speculating trip. The article provides Romans' vivid recollections of the Las Vegas landscape in the 1890s and his swim in the Las Vegas springs. Collection consists primarily of photographs both loose and in photo albums along with some correspondence and post cards. The majority of the photographs are either family photos or depict the Los Angeles area; there is little else relating to Las Vegas.
